Spring hit with big winds here on the California coast geese its been windy!
BASKL presented a "new rules" seminar with Chuck Sigal, Chuck is on the rules committee and was a good choice for the presentation. Chuck also announced that he was retiring from the committee.

Thanks Chuck for all you do!
In early April I attended the second annual Merced festival . this one is growing nicely , there was a good group of kiters demoing kites of all kinds. Ron Gibian was a nice addition as the announcer.

It was fun to see Ron and Sandy Gibian at a California event…TWICE in the same year!
I wish I was as busy as they are….NOT!

Jim Strealy and Vince McMillion make this great poka dot candy drop box that worked perfectly and did a great job organizing the festivities.
The Annual Lee Toy memorial fun fly was literally blown out! With winds that gusted over 30 the fun meter was pretty low. The annual NCKC mystery bag kite judging didn’t happen either, the kites were there al right but had to have tons of stuff piled on em to keep them from blowing away. NCKC member’s Everet and Joyce brought out one heck of a lunch buffet, I did see one pie blow off the table!

The Mayor of the green George Hamm came out and spent several hours in the wind…he’s still a tough ole guy and a snappy dresser! I enjoy this Bay Area kiting icon!
Kite month was great! We had kite events all over the place! Id like to thank the Jackite folks for their generous bird kite giveaway program, Iv flown mine at 4 events and will continue flying it. People seem to really love them!
There is a new event in the works for Northern California. A fun fly on top of Squaw Valley mountain (near Tahoe) at a place called High Camp. High Camp is at 8200 feet with plenty of room to fly kites! We will have to carry our toys up there on trams! High Camp has restaurants, swimming pools soccer fields, gift shops and a museum and now a kite festival set for June 29/30! For more information contact NCKC-bod@skinner.com
