January & February 2002

January 1 OK! I'm back on-line! I have Windows XP loaded and a new web composer installed, maybe my crashing problems are solved now.....THANKS to Al Stroh .......I love you Al!   Yesterday was dry and we all had fun flying fighters and various other kites and toys  ..I'll have some photos here as soon as I can...

LAST night was way fun at StroPohs ,  partied with a small but fun group including Ron and Sandy Gibbion ,Despojado, Al and Marilyn Watson...Ate and drank till three am......sides and face hurt from laughing  got some photos from there too... I was trying to save batteries and didn't use the flash...so no pictures  ! So Im learning already!

Today was SUNNY  as in no rain!! Clear, good wind, great food and a huge raffle and auction..   Kites kites kites everywhere!  I have a a bunch of photos from today as well and they will go up soon as I get home and rested . Kathy, I think your sister had a ball! AND I will have stories for days about her crazy new California friends.  Ron AND Sandy Gibbion actually showed up at a California event, it was Sooo good to see em and he really filled the sky with his awesome kite collection! I'm pooped and can no longer focus on this little type.  More later...

Here are a few from today:

WE left San Diego around 11 am Wednesday and blasted straight homeward, had an hour at home and off to the airport to send Miss Dakota home. The end our most excellent adventure.

January 6 Planned on flying at the SOCOM fly but lousy weather and a soggy field ruined that SO we went to Sharon's and made fighter kites here's what Aaron and I came up with. Aaron chose Mylar mine is Orcon....wonder if they will fly!

January 27 It was a beautiful day in the Park, here's what it looked like out there today (Berkeley, California) and the weather guys said it was going to rain!

Tom had 4 new kites out for us to play with.

Tom and Don King checking out the new kites.

On the ground is HQ's Breeze, a very nice ultra light kite that seems to do it all.

HQ's new vented Tramontana and Babytana

Level ones new kite (forgot the name). Tom says come out and fly em!

Hey have ya noticed its staying light till nearly 6 pm now ,whoo hooo spring is on the way!

February 9 I'll be out at Ocean Beach for the Bay Area Backroads Taping of an episode on Kiting in the Bay Area.... bring your kites out and get on TV!  I'll have a few pictures here!

February10 The Back Roads Taping was GREAT! here are a couple photos of the day and I will add more later...Look at the beautiful BLUE sky day we got for it! Wind was goofy tho ,off shore...no one could remember it ever doing that before, and it did make flying CHALLENGING!

A shot down the beach towards the Cliff House, this was later in the day,  from about center of the show all the kiter's were butting on.

Photo of part of the film crew, Milan Sur in the middle is the producer. Not in this  photo is the camera operator. My crown in a heap behind the camera, it took a beating as they wanted it up as much as possible in the background shots.

Dan Whitney and his Fugu, what a day for kites and kids! That's his Octopi too!
