| March 2 | BASKL's New International rules seminar presented by Chuck Sigal , for
all the information check out the
BASKL web site. Seminar was good, Informative and the food was great. Ron Despojado was A hit with the quad fliers and was swamped with questions. Only about 15 people took advantage of this opportunity. I was a bit disappointed!

| March 10 | Something doing at Shoreline Park in Mountain View today! City
Sponsored kite festival Kites, Kids and Cookies.......Well two out
three interests me! I'm going and taking all my toys! There was a million people waiting to get into the big tent. That line was about 3 hundred feet long, they were waiting for the kite making to open. Jr Tolman said he had stuff for 6 hundred kites they also gave hundreds of ready made kites to those that didn't want to make kites. Right away the air was filled with little kites flying everywhere! The day turned out to be awesome! tons of kites zillions of people and good wind!! I took a bunch of photos and trimmed em down to these:
It was a great way to start the new season, the crowd was very well behaved. almost no kites were broken or cut! They gave us t-shirts Pins and nice embroidered arm bands that said Volunteer on em....But I gotta say, for a festival called "Kids, Kites and Cookies", I never saw ONE DARN COOKIE!!

| March 16 | BASKL'S First event of the 2002 Season, Berkeley's Caesar Chavez Park The event went great! It WAS cold and very windy tho! Everyone had fun and some of us managed some firsts and seconds! I took some photos but haven't taken them out of the camera yet..... GOOD OLE Dan Whitney has a page of photos up already though. I will add mine here later today. The grass was un mowed for months so I brought a couple mowers out but still the weeds proved to much for a couple of home owner type mowers, here is Uly and Ian taking a few passes at it. we mowed for an hour or more but had to stop to start the event...thanks guys ! A shot of the pilots meeting, we had a good turnout, with three or four new novices...this is a good thing! Two Dan's and a Ron. Dan Whitney sporting his snazzy Dodd Gross jacket! It never rained as predicted, but it was very cold and windy! John Chilese flying Precision with a tail! A judges eye view of quad competitor Wayne Fu... The city of Berkeley in the Background. The big surprise of the weekend was how well Uly Villanueva flew his Quad events after only flying quad for three weeks...he is a natural quad flier for sure!
