We did go out to the Point Arena Lighthouse! The lighthouse and the
spectacular costal property it is on, is now owned and operated by a
historical lighthouse corporation dedicated to restoring maintaining
the historical property. The Managing director would love to have a kite
festival on the property! He contacted me to for help and information
on how to go about it so we went up there for a look and wound up staying
there in one of the 4 keepers houses. The houses are 3 and 4 bedroom, 2 bath roomy houses... with incredible views. I was
VERY interested in
checking out the lighthouse and excited with the possibility of flying some
of my kites there... for a test to see how flyable it may be there... I had
no idea I would have a chance in a lifetime to fly a kite FROM the lighthouse itself!
The tower is 115 feet high and boasting 144 steps to the lens
house on top...YES I climbed those spiral stairs... three times! Painful but
worth every step! Here's YOUR chance in they near future, maybe September we want to do a promo weekend, get a bunch of us up there for the weekend and a photographer to fill the skies around the light house. What do ya think Dan, Bryan, Jim wanna go fly kites at an awesome VERY unusual place? I took bunch of Octopus on the lighthouse photos so bear with them and check out the rest of the property in the shots to get an idea how cool it really is there. Here are the pictures for the day and the Point Arena Lighthouse web site is worth checking out at as well.

Today was the annual Lee Toy fly on the green in San Francisco. The day
started rainy then cleared enough to head over to the city. When I arrived
Dan Whitney had his Fugu up and Jan And Jerry were putting something
up... Hey Jerry I didn't get a shot of your mystery kite, send me one and I'll
include it.. The wind was surely from HELL as it was all over the place and hecka strong.
We had a ok turn out for an iffy weather wise day... There were 4 red and white new kites that showed up.... all good efforts born out of the mystery kite bags we got at the Christmas party. Around 3:30 the sun lost its battle with the rain clouds and everyone scattered! Here are the pictures for the day.

I registered a KITE MONTH event for Berkeley today.
I called it BIG KITES OVER BERKELEY and Man o man did we have some kites up!
Dan Whitney, Jim Strealy, Michael North, Bryan Blatel, Aaron, Daily, John and
myself had
dozens of big kites up! The day and the wind were perfect and we were able to "place"
the kites to fill every hole!! This worked great... most of the day, then
all of a sudden we got a wind shift. First it kinds slowly shifted North
and we started to worry about some of the kites were now flying over the
shrubs and trees on the edge of the field then just as we were trying to
deal with that, the wind went bam! 180° degrees and was now going due South... and so was Dan's teddy bear... I heard some yelling and turned to see the
teddy upside down in the road with its honey pot firmly stuck in a
pine tree... I was distracted with that for a few minutes before I turned
to see that EVERYTHING was down....and tangled! What a mess we had and what a fun day nothing got hurt and even the teddy was fine!!! Thanks everyone for coming out to play with me!!!! Here are the pictures for the day.
