North Dakota Debbie flew in and we drove down to the San Diego New years festivities. It was pouring rain here when we left and it didn't bode well for the trip! But two or three hours down the road it cleared up and just got nicer and nicer. My Niece Gina hitched a ride with us to visit friends in SD, Gina is a trip and kept us entertained all the way!

Monday Deb and Ron Despojado went into Mexico, Deb had never gone and Ron was up for some fun. We went to Porto Nuevo (about an hour inside the border) a small town famous for lobster restaurants. We pigged out on huge lobsters, lobsters as big as small cats! Nummm they were great too. shopped there and then went to Rosario beach and shopped till dark and headed to the border...2 HOURS in line trying to cross... Deb was entertained by all the wildlife at the border.

After the crossing we headed straight to Susan Shampoo's new house for dinner with the Gibians , Susan made an awesome lasagna , Pooped we called it a day.

Wednesday was the fighter day at Mission Bay park. There were by my count about 50 kiters out either playing with fighters or free flying. I played with my saucer , first time I tried it on about 100 feet of line, it was way cool up so high. Dave and Sue Gomberg  had some of their big toys up, a new kite called the big blue meannie (didn't get a good shot of it) and a New crown design. Deb had fun just running around in the GRASS, she also flew her new kite and her noodle.. it was a beautiful day and then cooled off quite a bit when the sun went down... We loaded up and went for the showers . Being New Years eve there was a party planed at the Skryea's (club member's), Lots of  good food and  plenty laugh's (photos didn't turn out...sigh) Fully fed and starting to wear out a group of us went to Susan's for champagne for the dropping of the "ball" and yet more laughs! Whooooo Hooooooo Happy 2004 everyone!

New Years day dawned blue and pretty as well ....loaded the Gombergs at 10 am and we headed out to Mariners Point....this place always makes me circle in on it for some reason finally found it and the wind was low. .we got anchors set and kites out as the park filled up with friends new and old!   Oh and congratulations to the NEW ranger who made me move my car from the place its been for the last 3 years...and NOT saying anything to the 10 or so cars that parked where I was after I moved....Geeesus!
The wind picked up and so did the kites! nice morning , the club provides a huge pot luck lunch and a great raffle and auction with comedian Ron Despojado as the MC. I even won a new REV bag! The wind lightened for a while and then came back up till dark.... my 550 was well behaved and looked great in the San Diego sky!

The sun dropped sl;owley and the day was over and packed back in the cars and we all headed over to Lolly's  (Rev Lolly) for pool Pizza and more laugh's...AND we all got to meet MR. Lolly! his name is Rich and is a quite a nice guy!..This too had to end as our beds were calling.
Sunday morning we took the gombergs and cargo over to Susans and hung around till around 2 pm then headed Vanna white north and homeward.

It was days of good fun NO rain till the drive home...AND the  nasty cold I got will go away eventually!
