I drove to Paso on Saturday morning and arrived about 2 pm to find a gang of kiters already there.....there waiting for wind, we had teaser wind all afternoon and it finally came up nice about 4 pm. That's ok we hadn't seen each other all winter and spend the afternoon catching up.
Some of us flew kites for a couple hours till the BBQ guy had everything ready. Paso does an awesome tri-tip and sausage BBQ for the kiters and this year again it was awesome!! That guy can BBQ!
Ron Gibian got his hands on a dual line kite and seemed to remember how to actually fly it..........good thing as he wouldn't fly anything on Sunday...None of us would!
Stuffed to the gills we headed to the hotel for check in and free cookies in the lobby...I like this hotel! Somehow last year i got a room with a hot tub in it.......not this year tho..... sigh .Tequila and loud talk and laughing nearly got us kicked out around midnight, so I snuck off to bed
After a fun Breakfast an Joe's place downtown we eagerly headed to the field for a good day of flying.... funny note: Rob ran down to Walmart to buy a JACKET!
We assembled kites for an hour or so (cause it was a good time cause there was no wind yet) Well.... the wind never came up only the sun got higher and hotter it musta been 100 degrees by 2 or 3 in the afternoon .It was HOT and shade-less the ground was covered with kites. .the demo fliers did their best with ultralights and alas so was the crowd...ultralight! Poor Arnold on the PA struggled all day to try and have something to say......it realy was one of those day when ya wished ya stayed in bed, I felt sooo good to get in my car and crank on the air conditioner......never did see that jacket on Rob!
